Defence, aerospace and security company Land Systems South Africa, which is 75%-owned by global security and defence company BAE Systems, will launch two new products at the Africa Aerospace and Defence (AAD) 2012 exhibition which will be held from the 19 to 23 September 2012 in Pretoria, South Africa.
For more than three decades, Land Systems South Africa has been the globally recognized leader in the design, development and manufacture of combat and operationally-proven mine protected armored vehicles.

.“Our products have been in service for decades and we continue to maintain our in-service fleets locally and globally. From a landward perspective, one of the latest systems we are manufacturing is a multipurpose vehicle, in which mine-resistant ambush- protected (MRAP) type protection is combined with tactical mobility and real multipurpose application that improves volume, payload and power supply,” says Land Systems South Africa communications director Natasha Pheiffer.

She states that Land Systems South Africa always participates in the biennial AAD expo.

“The exhibition is the largest aerospace and defence showcase on the African continent. Many international delegations attend the expo, which is why it is a great way for us to show our products and capabilities to many different potential customers.

“The AAD also has a regional impact, which gives us the opportunity to showcase our products to visitors from the Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, or Brics, countries, as well as many African countries that have been specially invited by the AAD organisers,” she says.

Land Systems South Africa’s mine and improvised explosive-device protected vehicles and wheeled armoured vehicles manufacturing division, OMC, designs, develops and manufactures vehicles that account for the majority of the armoured vehicle fleets of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) and the South African Police Service.

“The company has exported more than 4 300 vehicles, which are deployed in more than 40 countries worldwide. “Land Systems South Africa also provides technical support, spares, training, vehicle upgrades and other services to its local and international customers,” says Pheiffer.
