The T5-45 and T5-52 systems utilise the proven G5 155mm howitzer top-carriage in either 45 or 52 calibre configuration. The G5 top-carriage is mounted on a suitable high-mobility truck chassis 8x8 Tatra T815, fitted with a purpose designed interface structure and outriggers.

The T5's inherent indirect fire flexibility ensures that it can be employed in the traditional gun, howitzer and mortar roles. The ordnance has been optimised for the specific (45 or 52 calibre) 155 mm ballistic system.

The gun has an unrestricted 80° rearwards arc of fire, which gives it unequalled indirect fire flexibility as well as the capability to engage targets with direct fire.

The T5 has an operating crew of four members and an additional two crew members to prepare and supply the ammunition. Dependent on the truck size, up to 26 on-board rounds of ammunition can be stored in a purpose designed container. Ammunition is stored within close handling distance of the main weapon. This facilitates the process of loading and reduces crew exhaustion.

The T5-52 utilizes the PTO's of the truck for the supply of hydraulic power for the deployment of the outriggers and the top-carriage hydraulics. In the event of hydraulic power supply failure, another T5 can be used as a back-up system.
