"The improved BMD-4M has enhanced armor protection and the advanced automated fire control and navigation systems. Its sophisticated electronics contributes to its several key characteristics, inter alia, the ease of taking aim while driving at high speed in rugged terrain," the press release says.

It adds that upwards of 30 production-standard BMD-4M AIFVs and over 10 BTR-MDM Rakushka APCs loaded onto gondola cars in Orekhovo-Zuyevo have departed to their destination. Airborne’s logisticians supervised the loading of the improved fighting vehicles at the railhead.

The BMD-4M Sadovnitsa is a heavily upgraded variant of the BMD-4 airborne IFV. It has a new hull, running gear and other units. The AIFV mounts the Bakhcha-U turreted fighting module comprising a 100-mm main armament, a 30-mm coaxial automatic gun and a machinegun.
