Indonesia has performed live firing tests with Chinese-made Type 90 35mm anti-aircraft gun.
According Chinese Internet source, Indonesian Marine Corps conducted a live-fire testing on Chinese-made Type 90 twin-barreled 35 mm towed anti-aircraft gun on August 12, 2016. The test was conducted at a beach in the Sukabumi regency of West Java. Present at the test site were technicians from China North Industries (NORINCO), manufacturer of this air defense system.

During the tests, the Indonesian army deployed four units of the Type 90 twin 35 mm towed anti- aircraft gun system, one AF902 mobile air-defense fire-control radar system and four mobile power supply units. The components were tested in automatic target acquisition and detection modes.

The Type 90 (PG99) is an anti-aircraft 35 mm twin gun designed and manufactured by the Chinese Company Norinco. The proven twin 35 mm towed AA gun system represents the advanced development by NORINCO of a high performance, extremely accurate and reliable air defence gun.

The Type 90 35mm twin-gun can fire four types of lethal and versatile ammunitions, HEI (High Explosive Incendiary), HEI-T (High Explosive Incendiary Tracer), SAPHEI-T (Semi-armor-piercing high-explosive incendiary Tracer) and TP-T (Target Practice Tracer ) cartridges, the AA gun system can defeat almost any air threat, as well as various ground and surface targets, including light armoured vehicles.

The gas-operated 35mm/90 Cal. cannon, with a high rate of fire of up to 1,100 rds/min., and the muzzle velocity up to 1,175 m/s, together with high aiming speed, low recoil force- and small dispersion, contribute to the remarkable effectiveness of 35mm AA gun system within its range of 4,000 meters.
