Russia to reinforce military base in Tajikistan with Uragan MLRS battalion
Russia’s 201st military base in Tajikistan will be augmented with an Uragan multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) battalion, Aide to the Central Military District Troops Commander Yaroslav Roshchupkin told TASS.

"The 201st military base will be reinforced with a new unit - an Uragan MLRS battalion. The delivery of the systems is nearing completion. The personnel strength of Russia’s biggest military base beyond its border will comply with international agreements," Roshchupkin said.

The Uragan multiple launch rocket system can accurately hit targets in complex mountainous terrain. The system features high maneuverability and short-deployment and reaction times.

The 201st military base is Russia’s biggest base beyond its border. It is stationed in the cities of Dushanbe and Qurghonteppa in Tajikistan.

The large unit will be stationed in Tajikistan through 2042 under an agreement signed by Russia and Tajikistan in October 2012.
