Raytheon from US awarded contract to deliver NASAMS air defense missile systems to Ukraine.

According to information published by the United States Department of Defense (DoD) on August 26, 2022, American company Raytheon Co., Tewksbury, Massachusetts, was awarded a $182,295,333 firm-fixed-price contract for the procurement of National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS) for Ukraine.

Citing information from the United States Department of Defense, this order has been completed for Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 in the framework of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative funds in the amount of $182,295,333 were obligated at the time of the award. U.S. Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is the contracting activity (W31P4Q-22-C-0068).

The NASAMS (National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System) is a highly adaptable mid-range air defense solution consisting of the Sentinel radar, Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile, and KONGSBERG's Fire Distribution Center.

The NASAMS has been designed to provide an air defense missile system able to identify, engage and destroy current and evolving enemy aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, and emerging cruise missile threats.

NASAMS is owned by 12 countries and has been integrated into the U.S. National Capital Region’s air defense system since 2005. In addition to the U.S., Norway, Finland, Spain, The Netherlands, Oman, Lithuania, Indonesia, Australia, Qatar, Hungary, and one undisclosed country have chosen to depend on NASAMS for homeland defense and the defense of critical assets.
