Ukrainian State Defense Company Ukroboronprom presents all the variants of its BARS-8 4x4 multipurpose armoured vehicle at Defense and Security 2015 exhibition in Bangkok, Thailand. The BARS-8 is available in different types of configuration as armoured personnel carrier, mortar carrier, reconnaissance vehicle or ambulance.

The multipurpose 4x4 armoured vehicle BARS-8 uses a 4x4 chassis which offers high level of mobility to meets the world modern requirement of modern military combat vehicle. In armoured personnel carrier variant, the vehicle can carry a total of 10 military personnel including commander, driver and gunner.

The BARS-8 can be fitted with a wide range of weapons systems including open-top manual turret or remotely controlled weapon station which can be armed with a machine gun up to 12.7mm caliber.

The vehicle is motorized with a Cummins Turbo Diesel engine coupled to 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. It can run at a maximum road speed of 110 km/h.

The BARS-8 has a total combat weight of 8,500 kg and its has a payload capacity of 2, 000 kg. The hull of the vehicle offers a protection for the crew against firing of small arms and shell splinters. The ballistic protection corresponds to the Level 2 STANAG 4569.

The top of the vehicle can be fitted with the IVA remotely controlled weapon station which is equipped with thermal imaging channel able to detect targets at a maximum range of 4 km or with TV channel able to detect targets at a maximum range of 10 km. The IVA turret can be armed with one NSVT 12.7mm machine which offers a firing range from 160 m to 7,000 m.

The BARS-8 can also be fitted with VIY remote controlled combat module which is armed with two 23mm automatic cannons.
