DSA 2022: ADS and Nexter sign MoU to promote CAESAR 155mm wheeled howitzer in Malaysia.

At DSA 2022, defense exhibition in Malaysia, the French company Nexter Systems signs an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Malaysian company Advanced Defense Systems (ADS) with the goal to promote the CAESAR 155mm self-propelled howitzer in Malaysia.

With the aim of enhancing the innovation of the artillery systems, Malaysian company Advanced Defense Systems (ADS) displays the CAESAR 155mm 52 caliber 6x6 self-propelled artillery system on its stand at DSA & NATSEC Asia 2022.

ADS in collaboration with the French Company Nexter want to offer the CAESAR 155mm howitzers for future procurement of artillery systems by the Malaysian armed forces.

The CAESAR is a truck-mounted self-propelled howitzer which in service with the French Army since 2007 and is was deployed for combat operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and Mali showing its firepower and operational capabilities in extreme weather conditions and different types of terrain. Currently, the CAESAR is also in service with Denmark, Indonesia, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Thailand. He will also enter service in the armies of Belgium, Morocco, and the Czech Republic.

The 6x6 wheeled self-propelled howitzer CAESAR is armed with a 155 mm/52 caliber cannon mounted at the rear of the truck chassis. It can fire a wide range of ammunition: among others, LU family (HE, Illuminating, Smoke and Practice) filled with insensitive or conventional explosives, the BONUS (Anti-Tank, smart), ERFB NR (Explosive Extended-Range Full-Bore), as well as the new KATANA 155mm, guided artillery ammunition. It has a firing range from 4.5 to 40 km and a high level of accuracy with the LU family. In direct firing mode, the maximum range is 2 km.

Due to the use of a truck chassis, the CAESAR offers high mobility in the road and off-road conditions. It can reach a maximum road speed of 90 km/h, or 50 km/h in off-road conditions, with a maximum cruising range of 600 km. It can climb a slope of more than 40% and a side slope of 30%. It can cross 1.20m-deep fords without preparation.
