Eurenco's Cast-PBX explosive charge selected for Rheinmetall new DM121 artillery ammunition

|
Eurenco has been selected by German leading ammunition manufacturer Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH for the explosive charge of its new DM121 155mm artillery ammunition. The Cast-PBX explosive charge designed by Eurenco for the DM121 ammunition has been successfully tested in South Africa and Germany in 2015-2016. Rheinmetall fired hundreds of DM121 shells with success in all conditions.

Series production is to be launched by Eurenco late 2016 for deliveries of 30 000 explosive charges over three years. The ammunition filling is done by Eurenco in its explosive plant in Sorgues (France) using an innovative filling process in an up-to-date workshop.
Main advantages of Eurenco’s Cast-PBX explosive charges for Artillery ammunition include high performances (88% RDX content) and excellent Insensitive Munitions (IM) properties. Moreover, Cast-PBX explosives offer enhanced mechanical properties and temperature stability in extreme conditions compared to other technologies. Eurenco welcomes this new contract as an addition to its long-term partnership with Rheinmetall in explosive solutions for Tank, Artillery and Mortar ammunition.
