Company THOR of Colombia unveils its Thor's Hammer light remote weapon station at ExpoDefensa
The Colombian Company THOR a subdivision of Indumil, the flagship of the Colombian defense and security industry unveils a light new remote weapon station which can be used for naval and land applications.
     
The Colombian Company THOR a subdivision of Indomil, the flagship of the Colombian defense and security industry unveils a light new remote weapon station which can be used for naval and land applications.
     
Under the name of Thor's Hammer, THOR unveils at ExpoDefensa 2015, the International Exhibition of Defense and Security in Bogota (Colombia) a new remote weapon station which has a total weight of 150 kg.
 
This new weapon station is fully developed, designed and manufactured in Colombia using latest innovations and technologies of military engineering.
 
 

The THOR remotely operated weapon station can be armed with machine gun or medium caliber weapons up to 12.7mm caliber. It can be installed on ground combat vehicle or sea combat platforms.

The whole weapon station is composed of two parts, mechanical mount and the weapon which can be fitted on a vehicle or a ship, and the control group. The control group mounts inside the vehicle or ship. It includes a display, switches and joystick to provide full remote control of the weapon system.

The turret is gyro-stabilised and electrically driven. It can be fitted in option with Controp optronics offering the capability to fire in day and night conditions. Depending the tactical situation, the turret can be protected by ballistic panels.

According to Jorge Felipe Gonzalez, Technical Manager at Thor, "Colombian defense industry is now able to provide modern technologies in the field of military equipment with high added value and support in all part of the world."
