"The most successful project is our BrahMos joint venture. The work is in full swing on setting up a JV for the [Kamov] Ka-226 [NATO reporting name: Hoodlum] [helicopter]. We also intend to look into establishing a JV to make Smerch MLRS projectiles," he said.

He also reminded that the construction of the Project 11356 (NATO reporting name: Admiral Grigorovich-class) frigates, which India had ordered last year, commenced.

The 9K58 Smerch is a long-range 300-mm MLRS designed to destroy multiple targets, including armor, command posts and communications centers. Its maximum range is 90 km. In addition to the militaries of the former Soviet states, the system is in service with the armies of Algeria, Venezuela, India, the UAE and Peru.

The Smerch BM-30 can fire a full range of rockets including the 9M55K (Cluster munition anti-personnel), 9M55K1 (Cluster munition self-guided anti-tank), 9M55K4, 9M55K5 (HEAT/HE-Fragmentation.), 9M55F (separable HE-Fragmentation), 9M55C (Thermobaric), 9M528 (HE-Fragmentation).
