The PMMC G5 has been developed by FFG to meet the potential requirements of the home and export markets that require a replacement of existing vehicles in their inventory. A special focus in the design of the PMMC G5 was laid on outstanding protection capabilities. Even in the basic configuration the PMMC G5 offers high level integrated mine protection and IED protection, which was up to now only available by vehicles with a much higher gross vehicle weight. With add-on modules the ballistic protection level can be increased furthermore.

As a key feature, the PMMC G5 can rapidly be fitted with various standardized mission modules to meet different mission requirements. The mission modules can be changed within a few hours.

Due to the extensive use of MOTS and COTS products and a very robust vehicle design combined with easy service and maintenance regime, the PMMC G5 represents a very cost effective vehicle solution with low Life Cycle Costs. In times of decreasing army budgets, this makes the PMMC G5 even more attractive.

Through its modular design with various standardized mission modules the PMMC G5 is available as armoured personnel carrier with seats for up to 12 troops, as recovery vehicle, command post, ambulance, medical treatment, and cargo. Another vehicle variant only requires a new mission module.
