General Petr Pavel said two MRAP platforms are being considered because they meet ACR requirements, one of which will be selected following a tender process. Currently the MoD is not prepared to disclose how much space has been allocated for the procurement in the defence budget. The two platforms which are being considered are the Vega, produced by Czech company SVOS, and the Titus, produced by French company Nexter Systems.

The VEGA (Vehicle with Enhanced Ground performance and Armour protection) is a 4x4 multi-purpose wheeled armoured personnel vehicle designed and built by Czech armoured vehicles manufacturer SVOS.

The multi-purpose VEGA 4x4 vehicle features an integrated, V-shaped, monocoque armoured hull structure. It offers seating for two crew members and up to eight personnel. The VEGA offers enhanced ballistic protection for the occupants. Its V-shaped armoured hull deflects the impact of explosion away from the vehicle in the event of mine blast under the vehicle. The vehicle is also hinged with modular add-on reactive armour for all-round crew ballistic protection.

The VEGA APC can be attached with up to three weapon mounts including a remotely operated weapon station mounted on the roof. The main gun ring or remote weapon station can mount a 12.7mm machine gun or a 40mm automatic grenade launcher (AGL). It can also be armed with 7.62mm and 5.56mm machine guns.

The TITUS (Tactical Infantry Transport & Utility System) is a new generation of 6x6 armoured vehicle personnel carrier designed and manufactured by Nexter Systems.

The Nexter TITUS can be equipped with any kind of Remote Control Weapon Station from 7.62mm to 20mm, and 40mm Grenade Launchers as well, depending on the level of threats and type of missions.

The layout of the Nexter TITUS is very similar to MRAP category vehicle with the engine at the front, the crew compartment in the middle and the troop's area at the rear. The APC (Armoured Personnel Carrier) version of the TITUS Nexter has seating for ten dismounted troops, a commander station, and a gunner and driver in the front. The front part of the vehicle and the windows provide a protection against small arms firing and shell splinters, Level 1, STANAG 4569 and Level 2 for the crew and soldiers compartment able to withstand a 50 kg IED blast.

The Czech armed forces currently use the Iveco LMV 4x4, which had to be replaced due to lower transport capacity. Earlier this month, the Czech Republic's Ministry of Defence announced its intention to acquire 20 Austrian-made Pandur II 8x8 armored personnel carriers.
