A third Russian regiment of ground-to-air missiles S-400 Triumph will be operational in 2011.
A third regiment of ground-to-air missiles S-400 Triumph will be operational in 2011, announced Friday to Mojaïsk, in the area of Moscow, the commander of the Troops of the Russian unified defence strategic command of aerospace, General Valeri Ivanov.
     
     

“A third regiment of S-400 Triumph will enter in service at the end of this year” in Zvenigorod, not far from Moscow, said the general.

The first regiment of Triumph missiles (NATO code: SA-21 Growler) is operational since 2007 in Elektrostal, in the area of Moscow. The second regiment equipped with S-400 missiles will enter in service on July 31st, 2011, in the district of Dmitrov, near Moscow, according to the general. Other ground-to-air defence systems S-400 will be deployed soon in the Russian Far East.

A mobile regiment of S-400 missiles includes two or three divisions of which each one is equipped with 8 to 12 launcher vehicles S-400. According to the national plan of armament, Russia will have 56 divisions of missiles S-400 Triumph before 2020.
