Ukraine seeks to export main tanks and wheeled armoured vehicle to Mexico.

Ukraine is seeking to supply tanks and armored vehicles to Mexico, the Ukroboronprom state defense company said on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, . Ukroboronprom is ready to offer Mexico armored personnel carriers BTR-3E1 and BTR-4, "Oplot" and "Bulat" tanks, precision-guided weapons, and other products, said Ukroboronprom Director General Sergey Gromov.

The BTR-3E1 is an 8x8 wheeled combat vehicle designed to carry infantry troops, arms and supplies on the battlefield while providing fire support from a turret mounted gun. It can also carry out reconnaissance, combat support, and patrol missions.

The BTR-4 is a 8x8 wheeled armoured personnel carrier designed in Ukraine by the Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau as a private venture.

The Oplot main battle tank is the result of continued main battle tank development by the Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau, which is Ukraine's leading design authority for armoured fighting vehicles.

As Mexico still uses Soviet-made aviation equipment, Ukroboronprom is ready to take part in renovation and modernization of such machinery, said Gromov.

He also said that Ukraine and Mexico have great potential in technical cooperation in the military filed, particularly in joint production of precision-guided weapons.

According to Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, Ukraine exported arms worth 1.334 billion U.S. dollars last year, making it the world's fourth largest arms supplier.
