The Defense Ministry of Algeria has requested a $10.3 billion budget for 2013 that reflects the country's military modernization drive and the widening security challenges it faces.

Swedish army buys Diehl Defence IRIS-T SLS surface-to-air defense missile SAM system
 

The Swedish Defence Material Administration signed a contract with Diehl Defence to deliver IRIS-T SLS surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems for the country´s armed forces. The new units comprising the IRIS-T missile, missile launching station and fire control system are to improve the national air defence by protection against air attacks from a large variety of threats including missiles, helicopters and aircraft.

Ghana to increase budget of defense with a total ammount for 2013 of 230 million Euros
 

Mr Seth Terkper, Finance Minister, said an amount of GH¢ 575,609,022 (230 million Euro) have been allocated to the Ministry of Defence. Out of this, GH¢ 492,303,112 (197 million Euro) is from Government of Ghana, GH¢ 5,973,910 (2.4 million Euro) is Internally Generated Fund and GH¢ 77,332,000 (31 million Euro) is from Donor. The Finance Minister said it was government’s intention to meet the strategic requirement of the Ghana Armed Forces as well as facilitate the ministry to acquire personal weapons, troop carrying vehicles, infantry fire-assault vehicles, parachutes and accessories, and road construction equipment for the Army.

The handover ceremony coincided with the 10th Armoured Division’s traditional “International Division Skiing Championship” at Ruhpolding in Upper Bavaria.

Acmat Defense has produced first ambulance version of its ALTV 4x4 light vehicle for a customer
 

ACMAT has produced the first 14 of the ambulance version of the ALTV for a customer. The first four of these were delivered at the beginning of January. On the basis of this light 4x4 (permitted GVW: 3.5 tonnes), over 1,000 of which have been sold to armed forces, ACMAT has designed a vehicle for first aid or a surgical team.

Renault Trucks Defense to deliver Sherpa APC and Higuard MRAP to Qatar Internal Security Forces
 

Renault Trucks Defense has delivered the first Sherpa APCs and Higuard MRAPs to the Qatar Internal Security Forces (ISF). The remaining vehicles are to be delivered by Spring 2013.
