BMC from Turkey to produce Kirpi MRAP and Amazon 4x4 armored for Qatar


The Turkish Company BMC, manufacturer of armoured vehicle has announced during DIMDEX 2018, the International Maritime Defense Exhibition & Conference in Qatar, the purchase of 85 wheeled armoured vehicles by Qatar, including 50 KIRPI 4x4 MRAP, and Amazon 35 Amazon 4x4 multipurpose armored vehicles.

Ethem Sancak, the head of BMC, said the company will produce 50 BMC 4x4 Kirpi MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush) vehicles and 35 BMC Amazon 4x4 multipurpose armored vehicles to Qatar.

The production will start under an export deal signed during DIMDEX by the Turkish Company BMC and Barzan Holding, the first defense and security company responsible for enhancing the military capabilities of the Qatari Armed Forces, who was officially launched on the first day of the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference, DIM%DEX 2018 in Doha, Qatar.

The KIRPI is a 4x4 armoured vehicle in the category of MRAP fully designed and manufactured by the Turkish Company BMC. This vehicle was unveiled during Eurosatory, the International defense exhibition of Paris, in June 2010. The Kirpi is in service with Turkey, Turkmenistan and Tunisia.

The Kirpi MRAP features an all-welded steel armored monocoque hull with a V-shaped lower half that provides a high level of protection against mines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs), small arms fire and shell splinters. The vehicle can carried a total of 13 military personnel including driver, commander, gunner and 10 infantrymen.

The BMC Amazon 4x4 multi-purpose armoured vehicle was presented for the first time to the public during the Defense Exhibition Eurosatory in June 2016. It's new generation of 4x4 combat vehicle offering high level of protection against mine and IEDs threats.

The design of the BMC Amazon is standard with the engine at the front, the crew in the middle and the troops compartment at the rear. The vehicle can carry a total of 7 military personnel including driver and commander.

The BMC Amazon has a monocoque structure with integrated v-shaped armoured hull that protects people against mine blast by deflecting an upward directed blast away from the vehicle. The vehicle is also protected against side blasts from improvised and roadside explosive device (IED) and shell splinters.
