The Sherpa APC XL can be used for a full range of law enforcement missions and can be fitted with a weapon station armed up to 12.7mm caliber machine gun.

Weighting between 11 and 16 t for an approximate 2.5 t payload the APC XL version is targeting security forces thanks to its wider internal space. The 11 m³ back internal volume is ideal to transport fully equipped police forces (with shield, helmet, weapons ...).

Compared to the standard Sherpa 4x4 APC, three bullet-proof windows with firing ports are mounted to each side of the hull. Two large doors are at the rear part of the vehicle allow the personnel to leave and enter quickly in the vehicle.

The internal volume of the vehicle is increased to allow greater comfort for the onboard personnel and crew for long periods of missions.

The Sherpa APC XL is motorized with a Renault MD-5 Diesel engine coupled to an Allison S2500 automatic gearbox with 6 forward and 1 reverse speeds. It has a maximum speed of 110 km/h with a maximum range of 800 km. Protections against mines and further armor can be added as well as sirens and assault ramps for security forces.

The Sherpa APC with assault ramps can be used by police forces for hostage rescue operation in aircraft of buildings.

The standard system has a comprehensive equipment package consisting of the main roof platform, bonnet protector, triple stile side access ladders with foot platforms and a heavy duty combination ladder. Safety features include a handrail system for the main platform.
