Eli Airborne Solutions highlights ELIX-XL quadrotor VTOL UAS at ADEX 2016
At ADEX 2016, the Estonia-based company Eli Airborne Solution showcase for the first time its ELIX-XL UAS. The ELIX-XL is a man-portable ruggedized vertical take-off and landing unmanned aerial system designed to capture and transmit high quality digital video.

According to a Eli Airborne Solutions representative, this UAS is already in active service with the Estonian armed forces. The ELIX-XL is designed as a complete solution, capable of handling exterior reconnaissance flights. Autonomous capabilities and simple navigation and camera control makes it possible for everyone to fly ELIX-XL with only a few hours of training.

Automatic take-off and landing enables the operator to focus on tasks at hand and enables to unit to be launch without any launch mechanism and land without landing pad.

Once deployed, the ELIX-XL has a length of 1160 mm, a width of 1160 mm and a height of 180 mm. Its take-off weight is 5.1 kg.

The UAS has a range of 7 km and an autonomy of up to 45 min, depending on flight profile and weather conditions. It is powered by a 12-20 Ah LiPo battery. The ELIX-XL has a max speed of 12 m/s and a maximum speed tolerance of 10 m/s.

ELIX-XL’s payload features a Sony FCB-EH 3150 electro-optical camera and a FLIR TAU 2 infrared camera.

Established in 2003, Eli Airborne Solutions is the sole private company specialized in design, development and manufacturing UAS in Estonia for both military and commercial applications.
