DVD 2018: Hippo displays amphibious and UGV ATSV vehicle.

| 2018

Hippo’s ASTV (All-Terrain Support Vehicle) enables dismounted forces to “fight light” while still having the necessary equipment to deliver tactical overmatch, as the manufacturer claims. It has been designed to relieve the burden of the dismounted soldier.

Air transportable inside a C-47 Chinook or droppable by palletized parachute, the lightweight, low-cost amphibious 8x8 vehicle as a 750kg payload capacity on its back deck. Its amphibious trailer can hold a further 1,500kg payload, sufficient for a rifle platoon for 72 hours or a mortar section of three 81mm mortars with 312 bombs. A more and more classic asset, the ATSV offers exportable power: 5 kW of electrical output and hydraulic power take-off.

The ATSV has been demonstrated to the British MoD as an autonomous Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV). In both manned and unmanned modes, it can be used as a mothership for the carriage and electrical re-charge of other unmanned systems such as UAS and small UGVs.
