MSPO 2021: ZMT from Poland develops autonomous armed vehicle based on Polaris 4x4 all-terrain vehicle.

At MSPO 2021, the Polish company Zakłady Mechaniczne Tarnów (ZMT) presents an armed version of its autonomous reconnaissance combat vehicle fitted with a remotely operated weapon station ZSMU A3.

The autonomous reconnaissance combat vehicle is based on a Polaris 4x4 all-terrain vehicle chassis which is powered by a petrol engine. The vehicle is specially designed to offer high mobility in all-terrain conditions with a total weight of 900 kg.

The vehicle can be fitted with different types of equipment to conduct a wide range of missions including reconnaissance, logistic tasks, wounded people evacuation, as well as combat missions fitted with weapon stations armed with a machine or an automatic grenade launcher.

The autonomous reconnaissance combat vehicle can be controlled by two soldiers from another military vehicle, one soldier control the movement of the vehicle while the second soldier is in charge to operate the weapon station. The vehicle can be remotely controlled to a distance of up to 5 km. It can reach a maximum speed of 50km/h and is able to be operated for 10 hours.

At MSPO 2021, the autonomous reconnaissance combat vehicle was fitted with a remotely operated weapon station ZSMU A3 manufactured by the Polish company ZM Tarnów. The turret has a total weight of 330 kg and can be armed with a WKB-Bm/NSW 12.7 mm machinegun with up to 200 rounds or one 40 mm grenade launcher with up to 32 grenades as well as a UKM-2000C/PKT 7.62 mm machine gun with 200 rounds. The turret is also equipped with an optoelectronic payload including a thermal camera able to detect targets to a maximum range of 12 km, a daylight camera, and a laser rangefinder.
