The KBM Design Bureau of Kolomna /KBM, incorporated by the High Precision Systems holding company/ in late November handed over to the troops two brigade and two divisional sets of new 9K333 Verba man-portable air defense systems, fulfilling the 2013 contracts. This has been announced to TASS by the company press service. Russian-made new 9K333 Verba man-portable air defense systems MANPADS.

"The KBM has fulfilled two contracts with the Defense Ministry signed in 2013 to supply brigade and divisional sets of the latest Verba man-portable air defense system," the press service said.

The company officials explained that the first half of the weapons ordered by the military - two brigade sets for ground troops land and two divisional sets for airborne troops - were handed over in 2014. "The same quantity of hardware has also been supplied in late November 2015. The agreements have been fulfilled precisely on time," the KBM officials added.

The 9K333 Verba design uses for the first time a triple-spectral homing head for 9M336 air defense guided missile operating in ultraviolet, near infrared and medium infrared ranges. This novelty makes it possible to obtain more information about the target. In designing the newest MANPADS much attention was given to enhancing the head sensitivity.

This eases the engagement of an aerial target in the frontal arc and increases the actual acquisition range of the likely enemy’s flying vehicle. In addition, such innovations increase the MANPADS operating range against low-emission targets like the US AH-64 Apache helicopter of various modifications. The Verba MANPADS features an improved long-range guidance precision. Also, the system got friend-or-foe interrogator. The Verba is integrated with the Barnaul-T control system thanks to which it may receive an external target designator.
