Lockheed Martin UK has been awarded a $1 Billion contract by General Dynamics UK to deliver 245 turrets for the SCOUT Specialist Vehicle (SV). The first prototype turrets will be delivered to General Dynamics UK for assembly onto the SCOUT SV hull in 2015, ahead of the first vehicles being handed over to the Army in 2017.

The Polish Armament Inspectorate has released information on start of the negotiations with consortium consisting of Military Communication Works No. 1 and the Transbit Company, Defence24 reported today, October 21. The negotiation process is related to acquisition of nine RWLC-10/T Mobile Digital Communication Centres based on the new wheeled chassis - Jelcz 422.32. Contract's estimated value is PLN 23.9 million ($7.25mn).

DRS Technologies and Israeli-based Rafael Advanced Defense Systems are asking the US Army to consider acquiring the Trophy Active Protection System. There is no doubt that the success of the system during Operation Protective Edge which ended recently in Gaza brought it to the center of the negotiating table when it comes to the protection of armored vehicles in asymmetrical warfare.

3M to deliver thousands of Enhanced Combat Helmets to U.S. Army and U.S. Navy
 
3M announced Wednesday, October 15, it has received additional orders from U.S. government for its Enhanced Combat Helmet that provide military personnel with protection against head injury from ballistic threats and blunt impacts. 3M will deliver 35,000 helmets for the U.S. Army and 2,500 helmets for the U.S. Navy in addition to the 77,000 ordered for the U.S. Marine Corps last fall.

India's indigenously developed nuclear capable sub-sonic cruise missile 'Nirbhay', which can strike targets more than 700 kms away, was today test-fired from a test range at Chandipur, India. "The missile was test-fired from a mobile launcher positioned at launch pad 3 of the Integrated Test Range at about 10.03 hours," said an official soon after the flight took off from the launch ground.
