More than 5,000 soldiers of Russian armed forces will take part in military exercise in Polar Region.
More than 5,000 soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces Northern Fleet’s coastal defense and ground forces will take part in an exercise in the Polar Region, the fleet’s press office said.
     
More than 5,000 soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces Northern Fleet’s coastal defense and ground forces will take part in an exercise in the Polar Region, the fleet’s press office said. Russian airborne troops during Arctic war games in 2014.
     
"More than 5,000 servicemen and over 500 armored and wheeled vehicles will be involved at some stages of the exercise," the press office said.

During the initial stage of the exercise, the troops will practice assuming the state of combat readiness and leaving their permanent bases.

The servicemen will use their organic military hardware to move to training ranges of the Pechengsky district of the Murmansk Region. On their way to the training ranges, the troops will repel attacks of a simulated enemy’s sabotage and reconnaissance groups and practice air defense and actions required when the enemy uses mass destruction weapons.

During the exercise, the troops will improve their skills in preparing for the defense and attack, pursuing the enemy, disengaging from action and retreating.

Special attention is planned to be paid to the troops’ displacement to new positions and camouflaging, the fortification of positions and the servicemen’s sheltering.

The maneuvers will culminate in a live-firing exercise.
