At SOFEX, Cambli presents for the first time in the Middle East its new generation of MRAP armoured truck in live demonstration. The design of the Thunder 2 is based on a Kenworth T370 4x4 chassis, with Cummins ISC 315hp turbocharged engine and an Allison 3000 RDS five-speed automatic transmission.

The previous version, the Thunder 1 is in service with many police forces in Canada. Now, Cambli try to export its new Thunder 2 to the international market and especially in the Middle East where there is some needs for that type of vehicles for police and internal security forces.

The Tunder 2 is new generation of law enforcement vehicle offering high level of mobility and maximum protection against small arms and IEDs blast threats.

The hull of the Thunder 2 provides a ballistic protection B7 level , firing of small arms 7.62mm using armour piercing bullets. Two large bulletproof windows are fitted on the front and either side of the hull offering wide angle of view for the driver and commander.

The Thunder 2 is divided in three main compartments with the driver and co-driver at the front, the commander and gunner in the middle and troops compartment at the rear with seven seats. Each side of the hull is also equipped with three small bulletproof window with firing port in the bottom.
 

The roof of the vehicle is fitted with a small turret that can rotate on 360° which can be used for a sniper or to be armed with a machine gun. There is also very interesting features of the vehicle, the bottom part of the chassis is equipped with a retractable hydraulic armour plates which can be deployed by driver to protect police officer or soldiers in case of fire under the vehicle or to evacuate wounded people under protection.

There is also an heavy duty hydraulic battering ram and a front blade which can be used to remove obstacle or to push heavy objects. The Thunder 2 was tried and tested in 60°C temperatures, the triple AC (Air Conditioning) system kept inside temperatures around 20°C.

The Thunder 2 is a new generation of armoured vehicle personnel carrier which can be used by security or military forces offering high mobility, protection and comfort for the crew and able to perform a full range of missions.
