New HMV-150 4x4 armoured personnel carrier based on American V-150 APC for Thai armed force.
The Thai Navy has taken delivery of upgraded V-150 4x4 armoured vehicle developed by the local Company Panus Assembly under the name of HMV-150. The V-150 is an upgraded variant of the V-100 Cadillac Gage Commando which was developed in the early 1960s. The first prototype of this vehicle was completed in 1963 with first delivery for U.S. army in 1964.

The HMV-150 has a new design to response to the new threats and especially to offer more protection against mines and IEDs threats. The internal layout of the vehicle is also modified to offer more internal space, now the vehicle is able to carried 10 military personnel. The original V-150 only had the capacity to transport 5 people.
 

The HMV-150 has a weight of 16,000 kg and a length of 6.5 meters and a width of 2.5 meters. The vehicle is motorized with a new 8.9 liters Cummins ISL engine Euro 3 developing 350 hp. coupled to a new automatic transmission Allison 4500 with six gears. The engine compartment is at the rear of the hull on the left side. The HMV-150 can run at a maximum road speed of 110 km/h.

The front and sides of the vehicle have been completely redesigned. The front of the driver position has a large windscreen with small bulletproof windows on each side. There is one single door on each side in the middle of the hull. The HMV-150 keeps the original read door of the V-150.

The armour of the vehicle is also upgraded with a double layer steel hull of 12mm and under armour of 16mm offering more protection against firing of small arms and mine blast explosion. Each side of the troops compartment is fitted with two bulletproof windows and three firing ports.

The top of the vehicle is fitted with a new one-man turret which can be armed with a light machine gun. Each side of the turret are fitted with two banks of three smoke grenade dischargers.

For Thai armed forces, the upgrade of the V-150 will offer a new life time service for the vehicle for the next decades. The HMV-150 is locally produced offering fast and more facilities for maintenance and repair work, and finally, it costs less than buying a new vehicle.
