Scorpion-2MB can be used as a chassis, a platform, and a transport vehicle. The special armoured vehicles are produced in both armoured and non-armoured configurations. The vehicle can be airlifted by Mi-8AMTSh or Mi-26 transport helicopters through the medium of underslung systems. Rosoboronexport offers three variants of Scorpion, namely, Scorpion-2MB (with armoured monocoque hull), Scorpion-2M (with non-armoured monocoque hull), and Scorpion-2 (with open non-armoured hull and dismountable tent.

The vehicle is based on the unified platform that incorporates a space carriage frame, a diesel engine, a mechanical five-speed gearbox, a two-speed transfer case, limited-slip differentials, and disk brakes for all wheels. Modular cabins are intended for the transportation of eight persons; they are equipped with a ventilation, air-cooling, and autonomous heating units.

All modifications of the Scorpion vehicle are powered by a 2.7 l turbocharged diesel engine (152 h.p./112 kW) with a torque output of 360 N·m.

The single-compartment hull features two wide side doors and two split doors that allow quick disembarking of the personnel. The six-adjustable seats of commander and driver are equipped with a controllable cushioning system. The seats for troops are mounted along with the car`s sides; they can be installed in 'front-to-front' or 'back-to-back' configurations.
