The TOS-1A heavy flame-throwing system is designed to provide fire support for the infantry and tanks, defeat the enemy manpower and destroy open and closed firing positions during offensive and defensive operations. The 220-mm TOS-1A munitions can destroy targets at a distance of 6 kiolmeters. They explode near the target’s surface as a result of what the explosive substance gets mixed with air, inflames and then explodes. The key adverse factors, including a high-temperature field and a shock wave, can spread to an area of 40,000 square meters as a result of firing by one combat vehicle.
