Ukrainian Vilkha-M missile has double the strike radius

The Vilkha missile production started in 2018. That model had a range of 70 km. The modernized Vilkha-M's range has increased to 130 km. Turchynov said a missile with a range of more than 200 km is under development and could be ready in the near future.

The modernized Vilkha-M multiple launch rocket system has been tested, with its missiles being capable of striking a target nearly twice as far as those currently deployed with Ukrainian armed forces. Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov made this announcement after the completion of the tests at the military proving ground in the Odesa region.

According to Turchynov, the use of missiles for the destruction of targets at the maximum range, as well as the accuracy and efficiency of the target destruction was checked. "The missiles confirmed the specified characteristics, precisely destroying the targets at a distance of 120 and 130 kilometers," he said, adding that the work of the new command system, the effectiveness of the navigation equipment, and the quality of the new missile fire control system were also checked.

Turchynov said a missile with a range of more than 200 km is under development and could be ready in the near future.
