The UralVagonZavod Corporation (UVZ, an affiliate of Rostec) and the Russian Defense Ministry have signed a contract for the delivery of 2S40 120 mm wheeled self-propelled mortars, UVZ’s press service said.

"A state contract has been signed for the delivery of 120-mm wheel-mounted mortars manufactured by the Burevestnik Central Scientific Research Institute and designed to destroy command and observation points and armored vehicles and protected adversary personnel," the corporation said.

Besides, the Russian Defense Ministry has concluded a state contract for capital repairs of T-90A tanks with their subsequent modernization into a T-90M tank. The UVZ press service did not clarify how many T-90 tanks were going to be upgraded and how many mortars had been bought. "The current state contracts are the biggest to have been signed over the Army forum’s five-year-long history.

The contracts were signed by Andrei Vernigora, the head of the Russian Defense Ministry department responsible for the state defense order, and Vyacheslav Khalitov, the UVZ deputy director-general for specialized hardware.
