Description
The AF902 FCS/35 is an anti-aircraft gun air defense system designed and manufactured by the Chinese Company Norinco (China North Industries Corp.) The AF902 FCS/35 mm AA Gun Air Defence System is a fully automatic all-weather air defence system. Its main combat mission is to effectively intercept and kill fixed and rotary-wing aircraft, low and ultra-low flying cruise missiles, and precision-guided weapons below the altitude of 4,500 meters and within the slant range of 8,000 meters. And it can defeat lightly armoured vehicles, surface targets and concealed ground forces as well. With optional NORINCO SHORAD (SHOrt Range Air Defense) missile solutions, performance of AF902 FCS/35 mm AA Gun Air Defence System can be even more satisfying.

Armament
AF902 FC5/35 mm AA Gun Air Defence System comprises the state-of-the-art AF902 fire control system, the advanced and trustworthy twin 35 mm AA gun (Type 90), as well as four types of highly effective and versatile 35 mm ammunition. For larger coverage and better performance in tactical air defence, AF902 FCS/35 mm AA Gun Air Defence System can be complemented and upgraded with TY-90 and/or PL-9C SHORAD (SHOrt Range Air Defense) missiles.
Combat use
A battery of AF902 FCS/35 mm AA Gun Air Defence System consists of one AF902 fire control system, two 35 mm AA guns with ammunition, and necessary support facilities. With its superior performance and advanced firepower, this basic configuration of AF902 FCS/35 mm AA Gun Air Defence System offers an economical and effective solution to counter and defeat typical tactical air threats. For higher kill probability in cruise missile interception operation, the AF902 FCS/35mm AA Gun Air Defence System can also be deployed in enhanced configuration, which comprise one AF902 fire control system and four 35 mm AA guns that may fire collectively at one target or, fire from separately deployed positions.
Missile system

AF902 FCS/35 mm AA Gun Air Defence System also has two cost-effective upgrading alternatives that incorporates the new generation TY-90 and well-proven PL-9C SHORAD missiles. In this extended configuration, each fire unit consists of one AF902 fire control system, two 35 mm AA guns with ammunition, and two SHORAD missile launchers with eight missiles ready-to- fire. Both TY-90 and PL-9C are infrared-homing, fire-and-forget missiles, which can remarkably extend coverage of the weapon system.

The DY-90/TY-90 SHORAD is a short range ground-to-air missile defense system based on the TY-90 air-to-air missile, and designed by the Chinese Company TY stands for Tian Yan (Tianyan).
