In the framework of this seminar, organized by the Brazilian Foreign Relations Committee of National Defense of the Chamber of Deputies, the general said that these armoured vehicles should be used for UN peacekeeping missions of the UN by Argentina Armed Forces. This order is the first export sale for VBTP-MR Guarani 6x6.

The Brazilian army has ordered a total of 2,044 Guarani vehicles with delivery in the 20 years, and 100 vehicles per year. The production line of IVECO Veículos de Defesa is based in Sete Lagoas, 70 kilometers from the city of Belo Horizonte, the capital and largest city in the state of Minas Gerais, located in the southeastern region of the Brazil.

The VBTP-MR Guarani is a 6x6 armored personnel carrier jointly developed by IVECO Defence Vehicles and the Brazilian Army as part of its armoured vehicles fleet modernization program aimed to replace all EE-11 Urutu by 2015.

IVECO executives believe that the Latin American market offers good sales opportunities for the Guarani armoured vehicle, focusing on countries like Chile, Colombia and Ecuador, currently developing programs to modernize their armed forces and would like to purchase this type of vehicle.
