Japan could be interested to purchase Oshkosh MRAP M-ATV or Bushmaster 4x4 armoured vehicles.
According to the Kyodo News International website, Japan is considering to purchase MRAP armoured vehicles M-ATV from United States or Bushmaster 4x4 APC from Australia. The recently revised law enables the SDF to use land vehicles for the role abroad in addition to aircraft and ships, but the vehicles need to have enough safety features against potential terrorist attacks.

Japan could be interested to buy the American-made MRAP M-ATV Oshkosh or the Australian-made Bushmaster 4x4 armoured vehicle

The Oshkosh® MRAP All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) designed and manufactured by the American Company Oshkosh is the high-mobility, high-protection medium tactical vehicle specifically engineered for treacherous environments.

Derived from the Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) platform, the M-ATV is a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle that incorporates the TAK-4® independent suspension system to provide proven, durable, best-in-class mobility.

The Bushmaster 4×4 armoured vehicle is designed and manufactured by the Company Thales in Australia. The vehicle is able to carry up to ten soldiers. The armour-protected monocoque protects against the blast of claymore, anti-tank mines, anti-personnel mines, mortars, improvised explosive devices and has a range of ballistic protection kits. The shaped hull deflects the blast.
