The Danish WiSENT MLE (Mid Life Extension) ARV (Armored Recovery Vehicle) features the latest generation C4ISR systems including the Danish Army Tactical Communications Network and Video Camera Systems. The MLE further includes updated Human Machine Interface (HMI) and numerous other improvements based on 15 years of user experience in training and operations.

The first two vehicles have already been upgraded and returned to the Danish Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO). The remaining fleet of Danish WiSENT will be upgraded in 2022 and 2023.

The Wisent is based on the Leopard 1 MBT (Main Battle Tank) chassis and represents a mid-life upgrade of Leopard 1 ARV motorized with a new 1,000 hp engine, 30 tons crane, and other improvements. Amongst them are an engine Tropical Kit, add-on armor, and air conditioning. The main winch can pull up to 35 tons, and the crane is capable of a 30-ton lift. Besides the main winch, an auxiliary winch is mounted to help to operate a "Combat Recovery System", which makes it possible to collect a disabled Leopard 2 without leaving the ARV. A spare power pack can be carried at a platform at the rear of the vehicle.
