GDLS won a potential contract to perform field maintenance of Stryker armored of US Army


According to a contract released by the U.S. DoD (Department of Defense on August 11, 2020, General Dynamics' Land Systems unit has won a potential five-year, $428.2M contract to perform field-level maintenance work on the U.S. Army's Stryker 8x8 armored combat vehicles.

The GDLS (General Dynamics Land Systems) business will also provide equipment training, contingency maintenance and fielding services under the cost-plus-fixed-fee contract, the Department of Defense said Monday, August 11, 2020.

Stryker is a family of 8x8 wheeled armored combat vehicles manufactured by General Dynamics Land Systems, Canada and the General Dynamics Land Systems Division based in U.S.

The first 8x8 armored vehicles in the Infantry Carrier Vehicle (ICV) configuration were handed over to the US Army in March 2002. The US Army has named the vehicle Stryker and by August 2002, a total of 200 vehicles had been built and delivered.

In the U.S. army, the Stryker is used under 18 variants that include the Infantry Carrier Vehicle (ICV), Mobile Gun System (MGS), Reconnaissance Vehicle (RV), Mortar Carrier (MC), Commander’s Vehicle (CV), Fire Support Vehicle (FSV), Engineer Squad Vehicle (ESV), Medical Evacuation Vehicle (MEV), Anti-tank Guided Missile (ATGM) Vehicle and Nuclear Biological Chemical Reconnaissance Vehicle (NBCRV); seven Double-V-Hull (DVH) variants for the following; ICV, CV, MEV, MC, ATGM, FSV and ESV, and an additional configuration of a modified ICV platform integrating a 30 mm cannon.
