Russian Defense Ministry signs 41 contracts worth USD15.3 bln at Army 2020 forum


Russia’s Defense Ministry has signed 41 contracts worth more than 1.16 trillion rubles ($15.3 billion) during the Army 2020 international military and technical forum, Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko said.

“Today (26 Aug.)y, 17 state contracts have been awarded and 24 contracts have been signed with 30 enterprises of the military-industrial complex worth over 1.16 trillion rubles,” Krivoruchko said after the signing ceremony.

Under the contracts, the Russian Armed Forces will receive more than 500 new items of military hardware, over 80,000 missiles and other munitions. Besides, more than 100 pieces of military hardware will be repaired and upgraded.

“The signing of this suite of contracts will be a milestone in the fulfillment of the state armament program,” the deputy defense minister said.

In particular, state contracts have been signed to overhaul and upgrade T-80BV tanks and provide them with the Sosna-U multichannel sight and add-on protection, as well as to overhaul and modernize BRM-1K armored reconnaissance vehicles.

Also, a contract was signed to produce and deliver BREM-L armored recovery vehicles and BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles.
