The American Company Oshkosh Defense announced on December 16, 2022, that the U.S. Army Contracting Command – Detroit Arsenal has placed a $543 Million order to exercise available options to support the fielding of the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) Family of Vehicles. The order includes Oshkosh Defense JLTVs for the U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Air Force, and U.S. Navy.

Following a briefing given on December 14 by the Belgian Ministry of Defense in Brussels, the latter has somewhat detailed its contribution to EUMAM (European Military Assistance Mission), the military assistance mission to Ukraine decided last month by the European Union, which should make it possible to train up to 15,000 Ukrainian soldiers to fight the Russian invasion, in particular by offering help with mine clearance, an old and strong specialty of the Belgian army.

The U.S. Army has awarded Raytheon and Missiles Defense an $84 million contract to produce Excalibur 1B precision-guided munitions to help replenish stockpiles of the weapon sent to Ukraine. The Excalibur 1B variant the service most recently ordered features Enhanced Shaped Trajectory, or EST, software that enables soldiers to eliminate targets in hard-to-reach locations by selecting the projectile’s terminal or final phase attack angle.

The Austrian Armed Forces and Rheinmetall have successfully tested the leased Counter-small Unmanned Aerial System (C-sUAS), which had been delivered in May 2022, as part of a realistic exercise. Rheinmetall's deployable C-sUAS system is currently being evaluated by the Austrian Armed Forces alongside other systems as part of the Countering Emerging Air Threats (C-EAT) project. Following the successful tests, the Austrian Armed Forces have now extended the lease contract by seven months.

In order to hone professionalism in manning weapons, soldiers of the 1st Rocket Battalion (1 Mar 1st Battalion)of the Indonesian Marines carried out gun drill exercises with the NORINCO 90B Multiple Launcher Rocket System (MLRS) which took place at the 1st Yonroket Apple Field, Kesatrian Marines Baroto Sardadi Marunda, North Jakarta, Defense Studies reports.

According to information published on the Russian Social Network VK on December 14, 2022, currently, the Ukrainian army has deployed DANA 152mm wheeled self-propelled howitzers donated by the Czech Republic in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) in Eastern Ukraine also called NVO zone. Soon, Ukraine's armed forces could receive more DANA M2 howitzers from the Czech Republic.

According to a video published on the Russian Social Network VK on December 12, 2022, a new batch of AMN-590951 4x4 armored vehicles was delivered to the Russian armed forces. The AMN-590951 is the latest generation of wheeled armored vehicle developed by the Russian defense industry and was unveiled for the first time to the public during the Army-2022, international defense exhibition in August 2022.

NATO’s multinational battlegroup in Bulgaria reached full operational capability on Wednesday, 14 December 2022. The milestone was marked by a ceremony presided over by Bulgaria’s Chief of Defence, Admiral Emil Eftimov, and the Commander of Italy’s Joint Operations Command, Lieutenant General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo.

The discussions on the request formulated by the Ukrainians to get ‘’sophisticated’’ air defense systems as a parade against the numerous attacks from Russian missiles and drones (including Iranian-made ones) might see two conclusions: the delivery of SAMP/T Mamba batteries by France and/or Italy, and of a Patriot battery by the U.S., a possibility not yet accepted but strongly sought by many, even if Russia has already warned that such batteries would be ''legitimate targets' (aren't the other systems already targeted?).

The Hungarian armed forces will be a pilot customer for the newly developed RGW110 HH-T (HEAT/HESH tandem) hand-held anti-tank weapon from Dynamit Nobel Defense (DND), Waldemar Geiger reports in Soldat & Technik. The joint venture between DND and N7 Holding Ltd, founded just last week, has received a "substantial contract" for the manufacture and delivery of RGW110 anti-tank handguns. Apparently, the supply of weapons should already take place in the mid-1920s, Waldemar Geiger writes.

Russia’s Yars intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) has been loaded into a silo at the Kozelsk missile formation in the Kaluga region in central Russia, the Russian Defense Ministry said: “In the run-up to the Strategic Missile Force Day, the Kozelsk missile formation loaded a Yars ICBM into the silo launcher”.

According to information published on the Czech news website "Novinky.CZ", on December 5, 2022, T-72B Main Battle Tanks (MBTs) modernized by the Czech company Excalibur Army for Morocco will be delivered to Ukraine. Under negotiations with the United States and Europe Union, the Czech Ministry of Defense decided to supply the upgraded T-72 tanks for Morocco to Ukraine.

It has been a year that the contract for LAND 8116 Protected Mobile Fires program was signed by the leaders of Australia and South Korea. Plasan of Israel and Hanwha Defense Australia are working together on LAND 8116 to ensure the highest quality survivability systems are delivered to protect the Australian Army’s Hanwha AS9 Huntsman self-propelled howitzers.
