The teaser video published by GDLS (General Dynamics Land Systems) does not provide much information about the new specifications of this new version of the M1 Abrams MBT (Main Battle Tank). Citing information from "The Drive" website, this version is not related to the upgraded M1A2 System Enhanced Package Version 4 (SEPv4) variant which is now under development for the U.S. Army.

The hull and the turret of the Next Generation M1 Abrams seem to have a new design. The new tank could be powered by a hybrid propulsion system.

In terms of armament, the teaser video of the Next Generation M1 Abrams seems to show that the tank is equipped with a Kongsberg Protector RS6 Remote Weapon Station (RWS) armed with a variant of the 30mm M230 automatic cannon mounted on top of the turret. This type of weapon could be used to provide short-range protection against aerial threats such as drones.

Citing information from "The Drive" website, the Next Generation M1 Abrams could be armed with the XM360 main gun, a new generation of 120mm cannon able to fire new ammunition MRM (Mid-Range Munitions), AMP (Advanced Multi-Purpose), and AKE (Advanced Kinetic Energy).

The Next Generation M1 Abrams is fitted with an APS (Active Protection Systems) which is integrated into the hull and the turret. The roof of the turret is fitted with an improved gunner and commander sights.
