Novadem equips G5 Sahel Joint Force with its NX70 micro UAVs

In the pursuit of its internationalization, Novadem will deliver nearly 70 NX70 micro-UAVs to the G5 Sahel Joint Force by the end of summer 2022. Created in 2015 by the states of Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania and Niger, this force brings together 5,000 men to combat cross-border terrorism in the Sahel region.

For several years now, the NX70 micro-UAV has been making its mark in theaters of operation, with solid feedback from its deployment in the Sahel region since 2019 by the French army. It is therefore natural that the NX70 has been chosen to equip all the battalions of the G5 Sahel Joint Force and thus accompany them in their daily counter-terrorism missions.

More than 300 NX70 UAVs delivered in 3 years

Over the last three years, Novadem has in particular delivered a fleet of more than 150 NX70 micro-UAVs to the French Ministry of the Armed Forces (DGA Operation Emergency contract). These systems are now deployed in external operations and are used for intelligence and protection missions by day and night, thanks to their high-resolution thermal camera and encrypted links, among other things. Their extensive use in the Sahel region has demonstrated the system's reliability and robustness in extreme conditions (high temperatures, sand, strong winds, etc.). The NX70 was chosen to provide the G5 Sahel Joint Force with a micro-UAV capability in the fight against cross-border terrorism. With this new order for some 70 micro-UAVs, the NX70 continues to attract the attention of the armed forces and has established itself as the multi-purpose and multi-role micro-UAV par excellence.

Already delivered equipment and trained remote pilots

The delivery of the NX70 systems has been divided into three distinct phases and will be completed at the end of summer 2022. The contract consists of the supply of systems and associated equipment, as well as several training sessions on the use of the NX70 micro-UAV. At this stage, Niger and Chad have already received their equipment and have been trained. These training sessions take place in each country and allow the users to get acquainted with the system and to evaluate the full extent of its capabilities.

Significant European successes

In addition to its major success in Africa, the NX70 is also making its mark in Europe thanks to several strategic contracts signed with major names in the arms industry, such as John Cockerill Defense in Belgium, a major and historic player in European defense. These successes open up new prospects for Novadem and future opportunities in Europe.

Eurosatory, which has just opened its doors, is once again an opportunity for Novadem to promote its technologies in the field of defense with the presentation of its complete range of UAVs from 1 kg to 8 kg. Collaborative technological projects are also highlighted, and its long-standing partner MBDA is presenting the European project LynkEUs or their joint work in the field of anti-UAVs.
