The U.S. Department of Defense announced on March 1 that a new $125 million package for the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative that includes training, equipment, and advisory efforts to help Ukraine’s forces preserve the country’s territorial integrity, secure its borders, and improve interoperability with NATO.

BTR-82A and BTR-82AM armored personnel carriers (APCs) with better running and combat capabilities will be delivered to Army units in 2021, the Defense Ministry’s press office said : “Under the state defense procurement program, the manufacturers will hand over more than 300 military hardware items to the Defense Ministry”.

The Royal Dutch Army and Marine Corps will receive new 81mm Mortars and a full range of ammunition, to be deliverd by Hirtenberger Defence Europe GmbH (HDE). The contract includes 122 81mm Mortars with sights and the full suit of ammunition, including High Explosive (HE), Illumination visible (ILL VIS) as well as infrared (ILL IR) and Smoke red phosphorus (SMK RP).

Hundreds of soldiers have been undergoing intense training in temperatures as low as minus 20 degrees Celsius in Estonia, as part of the ongoing NATO presence across the Baltics and Poland, the British amy reports on its website. During the two weeks of Exercise Winter Camp, the 5 Rifles-led NATO enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) Battlegroup has trained in deep snow and freezing conditions on the Central Training Area near its base in Tapa.
