The combat vehicle is manufactured by the Special Design Bureau CJSC of the Motovilikhinskiye Zavody PJSC group of enterprises, which is under the control of RT-Capital. TOS-2 "Tosochka" differs from the TOS-1 "Buratino" and TOS-1A "Solntsepek", which are currently in service with improved tactical and technical characteristics. The system is mounted on a wheeled chassis of a 6x6 Ural truc. It benefits from an increased firing range, as well as automated systems for aiming, firing and fire control. In addition, the heavy flamethrower is equipped with a crane-manipulator and does not need a transport-loading vehicle.

The developer of TOS-2 is NPO Splav named after A.N. Ganichev, which is part of the Tekhnodinamika holding, the managing organization of NPK Tekhmash JSC. “Our main task was to make the system more mobile and to increase the efficiency of its combat missions. "Tosochka" can work out both with old rockets, which were used in "Solntsepek", and with a number of new ammunition. By creating new projectiles, we wanted to achieve, first of all, an increase in their range and power, ”said General Director of NPO Splav. A.N. Ganicheva Alexander Smirnov.

“In the fall of 2020, TOS-2 flamethrowers successfully passed experimental military tests as part of the Caucasus-2020 exercises, where the combat capabilities of the vehicles were demonstrated. We received feedback and carried out a detailed revision of the technical and combat part, which allows us to proceed to the final stage - preparation of vehicles for state tests, ”said Kirill Fedorov, Director General of RT-Capital LLC.

For the first time "Tosochka" was presented in June 2020 at the Victory Parade in Moscow. Four combat vehicles drove through Red Square as part of a mechanized brigade.
