Turkey has launched its first virtual defense exhibition SAHA Expo with the participation of 300 companies. Organized by SAHA Istanbul Defence and Aerospace Cluster Association from the 9 to 13 November 2020, the 3D virtual is held using the XperEXPO, an application developed by Turkish technology firm BITES, an affiliate of defense giant Aselsan. Citing the Daily Sabah website, Ilhami Keleş, the secretary-general of SAHA Istanbul, said companies exhibit their products through 3D stands in the expo. The virtual defense exhibition hosts 288 domestic and foreign companies and 355 3D-model products. Ilhami Keleş, the secretary-general of SAHA Istanbul, said companies exhibit their products through 3D stands in the expo. SAHA EXPO Virtual Exhibition, which is the first in Turkey, is open to visitors from all over the world for five days. SAHA EXPO Virtual Exhibition, is organized to promote the products and capabilities of over 300 companies, institutions and universities operating in the defence and aerospace industry with high technology production potential, which could be visited 24/7. The virtual exhibition is held using the XperEXPO application prepared by BITES, a subsidiary of ASELSAN which ranks 67th among the world’s largest defence industry companies and is also a member of SAHA Istanbul.

The Turkish defence industry has now transformed into a structure that ensures the participation of over 1,000 enterprises, various SMEs, research institutes, and universities, and which mobilizes the entire brain and production power of Turkey. Along with its annually growing production power and export capacity, the Turkish defence industry has also become the biggest R&D and technology investor in Turkey with its expenditure on product and technology development.

The purpose of the SSM (Turkish Defense Association) 2017-2021 Strategic Plan is to make Turkey a global player in the defence and security field with indigenous designs and advanced technology capabilities. It is aimed to manage programs with an integrated approach to ensure the sustainability of the defence industry and to improve the capabilities of Turkey and increase its power in defence and security areas. SSM has aimed to adapt to the changing environment quickly and reach its targets with great flexibility.
