dAccording to information released by the Italian company Leonardo, the company has successfully trialed a high-tech new Active Protection System (APS) approach for military vehicles such as tanks and armored personnel carriers. Called MIPS (Modular Integration Protection System), the new approach brings together layers of electronic and physical protection technologies to equip vehicle crews with a formidable defensive shield.

According to the Indian Ministry of Defence, a new version of the Akash Missile – the ‘Akash Prime’ - has been successfully flight-tested from Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, Odisha, on 27 September 2021. The missile intercepted and destroyed an unmanned aerial target mimicking enemy aircraft, in its maiden flight test after improvements.

Lorem ipsumAt the unveiling of the new G-Class (BR464) organized by Mercedes-Benz on September 28th at its G-Class Experience Center in Graz, Austria, the German manufacturer showcased a demonstrator that uses elements of this new G-Class and designated LAPV 464, LAPV standing for Light Armored Patrol Vehicle. It is the third successor of this type of vehicle on the Mercedes G base.

According to a contract published by the United States Department of Defense (DoD) on September 30, 2021, Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, Grand Prairie, Texas, was awarded a $62,028,000 modification (P00004) to contract W31P4Q-21-C-0042 for the engineering and manufacturing development requirement for the Precision Strike Missile Weapon System.

AeroVironment, Inc, a global leader in intelligent, multi-domain robotic systems, announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Telerob Gesellschaft für Fernhantierungstechnik mbH (Telerob), received a multi-million dollar firm-fixed-price order from the Latvian Ministry of Defense (MoD). The order, received on July 8, 2021, encompasses the procurement of telemax EVO HYBRID and tEODor EVO unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) and engineering support to the Latvian National Armed Forces. Delivery is scheduled to be completed in late 2021.

Azerbaijan is planning to some requests for additional batches of Russian-designed materiel, President of the country Ilham Aliyev said in an interview with the National Defense (Natsionalnaya Oborona) magazine: "We are working fruitfully with Russia in all areas, including military-industrial cooperation. We are interested in new developments, of course, and technical groups are studying new capabilities. We have already sent several requests, so the cooperation with Russia in this field will also be developing," said Aliyev.

The German Bundeswehr’s fleet of swap-body trucks is to be equipped with Rheinmetall’s ROSY rapid smoke/obscurant system. As a first step, Rheinmetall Waffe Munition will be supplying a total of 540 systems to Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles, the company that manufactures the trucks. Each ROSY system consists of two launchers with two magazines, a quick fastener, and a control device. The biggest ROSY order yet, it marks a new milestone in the system’s adoption by NATO armed forces.

On September 28 in Graz, Austria (the "nest" of the G-Class), Mercedes unveiled its Zetros truck in the four-wheel-drive variant, as the 1833 A 4x4 with a 4,800 mm wheelbase. It was already available in four 3-axle variants: the 2733 A 6x6 with 4,800 mm wheelbase, the 3643 A or 4043 A 6x6 with 5,100 mm wheelbase, and the 3643 6x4 with 4,500 mm wheelbase.
