The Polish Armed Forces Innovation Forum 2021 was opened by the Minister of National Defense, Mariusz Błaszczak. Commenting on the idea of the forum, the head of the Ministry of National Defense stated that increasing innovation, closer coordination of work between the army, science and industry will contribute to accelerating the technical modernization of the armed forces. In his speech, he also assured that the Ministry of Defense was working to intensify cooperation between the military, science and industry.

Zakłady Mechaniczne "Tarnów" S.A., having one of the most modern research and development centers, could not be absent at such an event. Currently, several innovative projects are being carried out in the topics that fit into the priority research directions. As part of the presentation of the results of works financed by the National Center for Research and Development, the participants to the forum could once again get to know Perun, an autonomous wheeled vehicle with an armament module for reconnaissance and combat tasks. This project is carried out in cooperation with the Consortium members, i.e. Jarosław Dąbrowski - the host of the Tuesday forum - and the Białystok company Stekop S.A. The project is financed by the National Center for Research and Development as part of the Scientific Research Program for State Defense and Security entitled "Future Technologies for Defense - Young Scientists Competition".

Tests under operating conditions have now been completed. Consortium members conduct intensive talks with potential users. Several important meetings are planned in the near future to discuss the further development of the system and its potential applications.

The autonomous wheeled vehicle with a weapon module for reconnaissance and combat missions Perun is capable of firing while on the move. Its operational range is over 5 km. It is equipped with an A3C remotely controlled weapon module, which can be armed with a 7.62-mm UKM 2000C machine gun or a 12.7-mm WKM-B machine gun. It can work in two modes: stationary - at a considerable distance from the crew, where the operators independently control the robot's movement and weapons from a safe place, and mobile - backpack mode, in which the operator moves together with the robot. The robot can also act as an advanced observer, and thanks to the sensors used, it is able to detect the presence of an enemy or an attempt to interfere with the robot and automatically take appropriate action.
