On September 2022, Deputy Prime Minister and Luxembourg Minister of Defense, François Bausch, announced the acquisition of 80 armored command, liaison and reconnaissance vehicles (CLRV) for the Luxembourg Army. The CLRV will be based on the Eagle V manufactured by the company GDELS (General Dynamics European Land Systems).

The project of the CLRV for the Luxembourg army will be led by the French company Thales in partnership with the companies General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) and FN Herstal. The procurement program, managed by the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA), will supply the Luxembourg armed forces a modern fleet of land vehicles that is interoperable with other NATO countries.

As program prime contractor, Thales will provide all the onboard technologies required to support data-driven operations and collaborative engagements, including the common vehicle architecture (vetronics) and the software-defined radio systems developed under France's CONTACT program.

The Eagle V is a 4x4 armored vehicle developed and designed by the Swiss company Mowag who is now part of GDELS. The vehicle was unveiled in 2010 during the international defense exhibition in Paris, Eurosatory.

The deFNder Medium is a Remote Weapon Station (RWS) designed, developed, and manufactured by the Belgian firearms Company FN Herstal. Taking advantage of its long-standing firearms expertise, FN Herstal designed and developed a complete family of remote weapon stations called deFNder™. The deFNder Medium can be armed with FN M2/M3 12.7mm caliber as well as a 40mm grenade launcher.

The standard version of deFNder™ Medium weapon station is equipped with and IR thermal uncooled camera which can be used for day and night combat operations mounted at the right side. One ammunition box is mounted at the left side with a capacity of 200 rounds of .50 caliber.
