New contracts are being signed during Day 2 at Defense and Security 2015
Today is the second day at Defense and Security in Bangkok, Thailand. Many companies are finalizing contracts like Thales about new STARStreak Missiles that will be delivered to the Royal Thai Army from 2017 and NIMR which has launched its combat-proven military vehicles into the Asian market, marking a new phase in the company's development plans.

Thales will start delivering the additional STARStreak missiles and Lightweight Multiple Launcher (MLM) to the Royal Thai Army (RTA) from 2017. Thales signed a multi-million pound contract with Thailand-based DataGate in September to supply the STARStreak air defence missile system. The contract follows on from Thailand's initial purchase of STARStreak in 2012.

STARStreak High Velocity Missile (HVM) is designed to provide close air defence against conventional air threats such as fixed wing fighters and late unmasking helicopter targets.nIt is capable of being launched from lightweight land, sea and air platforms, from either automatic fire control systems such as RAPIDRanger or the STARStreak LML.

Thales has previously exported weapons to the Indonesian governement. In Malaysia this year, Thales signed a contract with Global Komited, a company within the Westar Group, to supply ForceSHIELD, the Thales integrated Advanced Air Defence System.

NIMR, the military vehicle manufacturer based in the UAE, is showcasing for the first time in Asia, its elite classes of ultra-capable tactical and utility military vehicles. NIMR has three elite classes of ultra-capable tactical and utility military vehicles, the AJBAN, HAFEET and N35.

NIMR is a subsidiary of Emirates Defence Industries (EDIC), the UAE's integrated defence manufacturing and services platform.

"NIMR's expansion of our sales footprint into Asia is a new exciting chapter in our history, our modular vehicles are perfectly suited to the challenging terrain and environment in the region and will provide Armed Forces across the region with a leading-edge in capabilities to handle a wide range of mission requirements", Dr. Harhara, CEO of NIMR told Daily News.

French Group ECA is also highlighted today at Defense and Security. It seems that the Coba MK2 is ideal for Thailand. The robot helps in conducting reconnaissance missions, neutralization, removal and destruction of explosive devices and ammunition. Cobra MK2 could be used for intelligence gathering in Thailand's insurgency-battered deep south.
