The Chinese Defence Company NORINCO unveils new main battle tank VT2 at DSA 2012.
The China North Industries Corporation Norinco unveils a new main battle tank at DSA 2012 Defence Services Asia Exhibition, the VT2. Main Battle Tank VT2 (also known as Type 96A MBT) is newly developed by NORINCO. By utilizing high- efficiency production line with latest technology, the VT2 MBT has achieved a new height of performance with low life-circle cost.

Its general combat efficiency has matched some more expensive counterworkers. VT2 Main Battle Tank is equipped with an advanced Image Stabilized Fire Control System (ISFCS), which includes a bi-axial image stabilized gunner sight integrated with IR and laser range-finder, combined with target automatic tracking device, fire control computer and various sensors. These, together with the fully stabilized 125mm gun and advanced ammunitions, ensure the VT2 MBT's high all-weather first-round hit probability against both stationary and moving target while the platform is stationary or moving.


The outstanding battlefield survivability is secured by compact design, low silhouette, advanced composite armour and ERA. Also, the collective NBC protection and automatic fire and explosion detection/suppression system are standard equipment for VT2 MBT.

The sufficient maneuverability of VT2 MBT attributes to a V12 turbo-charged diesel engine, developing 800 hp and coupled to a manual shifting planetary transmission gearbox.
