Eurosatory 2014 trends:

1- Omnipresence of composite solutions for passive protection

The composite industry has benefited from many new developments and combinations of increasingly complex materials. All the latest protection solutions (armour, personal protection) are omnipresent, and advanced composite solutions are offered alongside raw material products (special metals, ceramics, glass, plastics and fibres).

2- Booming development of low-altitude light aviation

Eurosatory 2014 will include a large number of "Air-Land" exhibitors offering a whole range of flying solutions closely linked to land defence and security systems. This involves both helicopters and light aircraft, whether ultralights, tactical UAVs, balloons or microlight aircraft, including systems for airdropping airborne troops and their equipment. Of note is that French SMEs are emerging in the low-cost small aircraft market.

3- Solutions for the gradual use of force, from non-lethal technologies to conventional weapons

Numerous recent events (Arab Spring, events in Thailand, Ukraine, Central Africa, etc.) raise the issue of democratic crowd control which requires the specific, continuous adjustment of the means used, to save the lives of civilians and response forces. Many proposals are now available providing a complete range of gradual responses geared to the level of violence encountered and how situations develop.

4- Large number of exhibitors in the national security and civil protection area

The ever-increasing importance of this area is reflected in a new dedicated cluster at Eurosatory. A large area is devoted to crisis management, natural disasters, and refugee and humanitarian relief, with Police, Gendarmerie and Fire-fighter stands. Many companies offering capability responses to address emergency situations are to attend (tents, water treatment, evacuation, fording and operational medicine). The city and conurbation management issue will also be addressed during the week.
