"I think we will renounce soon as possible the purchase of foreign armoured vehicles» said M.Rogozine during a meeting in the Duma (lower house of Russian parliament) with the Russian deputies.

Dmitry Rogozin said "the Russian Ministry of Defense regularly criticizes the low level of security of armored products in Russia". Domestic producers take into account such complaints and improve the vehicles which are produced in the country, he said.

The NATO countries are very careful to use vehicles that provide a high level of protection to ensure the survival of the crews and soldiers against new threats such as IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices).

Russia and Italy in December 2011 signed a contract for the joint construction of 60 armored vehicles Iveco LMV Light Multirole armoured Vehicle in Voronezh (450 km south of Moscow).
