An Israeli television channel has announced that the first production of Israeli assault rifles will started at a weapons factory in Thanh Hoa which was visited by the Vietnamese Deputy Defense Minister Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Chung.

The report noted that in the future, the Galil assault rifle will be produced in mass production to gradually replace the Russian-made assault rifle AK-47 which is in service with the Vietnamese armed forces.

In September 2011, the "Globes" website revealed that Israel Weapons Industries Ltd. (IWI) (the Israel Military Industries Ltd. (IMI) light arms spinoff owned by Samy Katsav's SK Group) planned to build a light-arms plant in the Far East at an investment of more than $100 million.

Israel is not the only country seeking new markets for its defense industry. European companies have also discovered Vietnam and its potential.

The Vietnamese army has already adopted a wide range of Israeli small arms including the Tavor, Negev LMG, Galil SAR rifle and Galil Sniper rifle.

The ACE family of assault rifles are based upon the reliable mechanism of the famous GALIL assault rifle. The ACE incorporates enhanced human engineering and ergonomics with the demands of the modern battlefield. The ACE 31 and the ACE 32 assault rifles use standard 7.62x39mm ammunition.
